Among the rarest does not mean it's so rare there are only around twenty. Obviously if it only comes out in thunderstorms and is sneaky it's elusive. To make sure, I looked it up and it says exactly that. All I see is "it is elusive." and " among the rarest" Elusive specifically means difficult to find, catch or achieve. Plus, everyone says the Skrill is really rare, I also cannot find proof of this. I doubt Dreamworks would use a plot flop like this. I don't mean having Cloudjumper wasn't a creative move, his personality and design are amazing, but the whole idea of "Hiccup trained this super rare dragon, and his mother has an even rarer one, y'know, cause it's his mom and she's this super cool better dragon trainer!" I mean he didn't really have to be rarer did he? A dragon can be more dangerous and harder to train without being rarer.

Then in the next movie it immediately goes "But his mother coincidentally trained a dragon that's more rare and more amazing!" I realize Cloudjumper took her with him, but I mean, It kind of ruins the creativity factor for me. The Night Fury was the most feared, dangerous, smart and elusive dragon. I mean if he had trained any other dragon it wouldn't have been nearly as effective. Honestly I don't really like the fact they would do that, I mean it's like "Hiccup tamed this super rare, amazing dragon nobody has even seen!" and that made sense, it helped make his point and start the whole training revolution. Is it in a HTTYD 2 book? Or manual? On the HTTYD Wiki it just says rare. Where does it say Stormcutters are rarer than Night Furies? I haven't been able to find any official sources and this wasn't touched at in the movie.
This is genuinely being asked and I would very much like to know. I'm perfectly happy because they added my favorite dragon of all time, the Skrill, which I also have a question about.
I'm not questioning anyone and I'm not trying to get Stormcutters into the game.
